A day of Food, Shopping and Goats

Today was our first full day in Trichy. We started the day with a tour of Bishop Heber where we were able to meet many important faculty members, including the principal of the college. After our exciting tour in the heat we were shown around town. Josaphine, who I will be working with, showed us where some local shops were near the college to buy food, notepads, accessories, basically anything you would want. She also taught us how to cross the road! You basically hold hands and run to dodge 2 wheelers and cars. Sometimes crossing the road can take about 10 minutes. Trust me, it is an adrenaline rush. While on the tour we saw wild goats on every corner and cows sitting around periodically. The goats just walk around eating trash and minding their own business. The only way I can describe the city is a lot of people and animals everywhere. Later in the day we were taken on a shopping trip to buy many salwar kameez. I cannot wait to wear one tomorrow! We were accidentally fed four meals today, so we are all a little stuffed. On the bright side, three of them were provided for us and the fourth one was only $3.00. Food is so cheap and delicious!
